Watercolor Painting Techniques Collage

6th graders practiced a variety of watercolor paint techniques then selected
their most successful to contribute to these framed collages for the school libraries.




Polar Bears and the Arctic Landscape

3rd graders watched a video about the Hudson Bay Polar Bears 
then used watercolor paints(salt and plastic wrap technique),
wax paper and glitter snow to create the Arctic landscape.  They watched

a "How to Draw" a polar bear video and practiced drawing polar bears
and added him/her to their scene.

2nd graders studied Jim Dine and his "Heart" paintings to create
their own tempera paint collage pieces.

Fox Still Life
CAC (Creative/Artistic Class) students observed a mounted fox
and sketched using various drawing mediums.






"String Art"Stitchery
5th graders "rag" printed their boards then
stitched line designs and shapes based on the circle.






Winter Houses
Kindergarten practiced mixing paint colors and reviewed
geometric shapes to build houses before the snow storm!

3D Hands
6th graders learned about shading and highlighting to create the
illusion of hands/arms reaching into their brown paper bag portfolios.



Whimsical Christmas Trees
2nd graders created different shades of green to paint triangle trees.  



Snowman Collage
Kindergarten used a variety of paper, fabric and markers to
make these snowman collages.

3rd graders created door/wall hangings out of paint stir sticks

 Paper Quilling/ Symmetrical Designs
5th graders observed the very old art of quilled paper designs through photographs and video.  They practiced and practiced then composed their own designs based on symmetry.





                     

Butterflies of Nebraska Prairie
4th graders used ipads in the art room to research NE butterflies then created a 
prairie grasslands landscape scene with newspaper, phonebook paper and their
3D watercolor butterflies


Halloween's A Hoot!!
Kindergarten used cutting and printing skills to create late night
Great Horned owls with circles and more circles!



Mondrian Monsterpieces!!
3rd graders learned about Piet Mondrian and his use of Primary Colors and
visual balance.  They practiced making Secondary Colors from the primaries
in a composition similar to his and filled their spaces with
Halloween characters and scenes.
