Ceramic PANCAKES...Mmmmmmm Good!

5th graders stacked clay coils to create this delicious looking ceramic container.

Pinch Pot Egg Baskets

1st graders created ceramic pinch pots, glazed them and then stuffed
them with grass and chocolates for a spring time surprise.

Cardboard Loom Weaving

4th graders learned how to weave by creating a "Little Buddy".
This was done on a cardboard loom.They also learned vocabulary
 related to weaving and wrote a paragraph introducing us to their character.

Shading and Modeling 

5th graders practiced shading and modeling techniques to turn

stripes into 3D overlapping ribbons or worms.

Snowmen in 3D

5th graders looked at the illustrations of Caralyn Buehner

to create these chalk pastel/mixed media snow people, outside, doing their "thing"! 

Marshmallow Polar Bears

Kindergartens used circle templates to draw their polar bears and

filled them in by printing with marshmallows! They added snowflakes and scarves

to finish this beary cold picture.

Paintbrush Santas!

2nd graders turned old paint brushes into Santa Claus just in time for Christmas.

Geometric Evergreen Trees

1st graders used rectangles to create these picture perfect pines.

Circular Weaving

3rd graders re-used old CDs to create a loom and weaving.

 

Wild and Crazy Tom Turkey

1st graders did some paper weaving then turned it into a turkey.

Tree Weaving

6th graders created trees by wrapping and weaving

yarn on an embroidery hoop loom.

 

Warm and Cool Weaving

2nd graders painted target patterns with warm and cool colors.

They cut one painting into strips and the other into a loom.

They wove the two together to get a rainbow of colors all mixed together.

 

Weaving and Stitching

Kindergarteners practiced weaving and stitching through burlap.

 

 

 

 

CROWS and Collage

       6th graders looked at the work of Jaqueline McIntyre and zentagles

to create these scratch, collage paintings of crows.

 

  

 

 

 Halloween Black Cat Collage

1st graders used geometric shapes to create these black cat portraits on top

of a tissue paper painted background.

 

 

 

 Mr. Bones- Skeleton Sketches

2nd graders studied the real skeleton hanging in the art room during the month of October.

They sketched, tissue paper painted and charcoal shaded these eerie portraits of

"Mr. Bones".

 3 D Warm/Cool Paper Sculpture

3rd graders painted paper and cut out shapes to build

these 3D paper sculptures.

 

Bald Eagle Patriotic Paintings

 

5th Graders were inspired by Andy Warhol's Endangered Species prints

and watched a video about the Bald Eagle to become more informed
about our national bird. (tissue paper painting, photo copies, chalk pastel and paint)

Sand Hill Crane Collage- 4th grade

4th graders became aquainted with the Sand Hill Crane who migrates
through NE by watching a video and studying photos.  They created this collage
of a "Dancing Crane" with watercolor backgrounds, magazine paper bird,

 feather tails and wings, paper/raffia ground and old NE road map frame.

 

 

Scarecrow Collage- Kindergarten

Kindergarteners used geometric shapes(rectangles, circles
and triangles) to make their scarecrow characters.

 

 

 

Fall Tree Collage - Kindergarten

Kindergarteners used a variety of art supplies to
create these "Autumn Inspired" trees.

 

Sponge Printed Birds - 2nd grade

2nd graders used cardboard to print trees and sponges
to print birds and leaves.  They created personalities

by drawing with markers and adding feathers.

 

 

Great Horned Owls - 2nd/1st grade

Students cut out their owl shapes by tracing circles,

added marker line designs, oil pastel color and
water color paint resist. 

 

 

 

Butterflies 2D to 3D - 2nd/1st grade

Students reviewed symmetrical design then made 2D butterflies with

chalk pastel, dot markers and paper shapes.  They turned them into 3D

butterflies with additional cutting and folding of wings.
